Auch Sansa und die anderen Anwesenden sind von Sandors Kampfkunst sichtlich beeindruckt, während dieser mehr überrascht und verlegen auf die Aufmerksam reagiert.
Auf dem Turnier wird noch eine andere Seite des Bluthunds offenbart. Kleinfinger erzählt Sansa im strengstem Vertrauen die Vorgeschichte der Cleganes, die seit ihrer Jugend miteinander verfeindet sind.
Dieser kam nach Hause, packte ohne ein Wort zu sagen seinen Bruder und drückte dessen Gesicht in glühende Kohlen des Kamins. Seit diesem Vorfall sind sie erbitterte Rivalen.
Sansa muss versprechen, dieses Geheimnis niemandem zu erzählen, da Sandor darüber nicht erfreut wäre.
An Joffreys Namenstag kämpft Clegane für diesen und tötet seinen Gegner. Clegane kann Joffrey vor der Revolte retten und kann Sansa kurz vor einer Vergewaltigung abermals schützen.
Sansa fragt, warum er so hasserfüllt ist und Sandor meint lächelnd, dass sie ihm eines Tages dankbar sein wird, wenn er der einzige ist, der zwischen ihr und Joffrey steht.
Später erwischt er Shae und Sansa, wie sie versuchen, Sansas Bettlaken zu verstecken versuchen, da Sansa ihre erste Periode bekommen hat.
Pflichtbewusst teilt Clegane dies Cersei mit. Auf dem Schlachtfeld tötet er viele Soldaten von Stannis Baratheon , aber das Feuer, das ihn in der Kindheit traumatisiert hat, macht ihm zunehmend schwer zu schaffen.
Dort verlangt er was zu trinken und als Joffrey ihn schrill auffordert, kämpfen gehen, schwört er Joffrey und der Königgarde ab und verlässt den Hof.

Sandor meint, dass sie dennoch von Killern umgeben wäre und verspricht ihr, auf sie aufzupassen. Nachdem Sandor Clegane Königsmund verlassen hat, wird er von der Bruderschaft ohne Banner gefangen genommen.

To many fans, Game of Thrones is too dark. Not figuratively — they literally can't perceive what's happening on screen. Many fans took to social media during the episode to complain about the color palette, with some wondering if it was their TV brightness setting that was the issue.
Yep, many complained that parts of the episode were too dark — and we don't mean just twisted dark after seeing the Night King's artistic flair.
Game of Thrones needs to turn on the lights, or else I am sending them my ophthalmologist bill. For real, GoT powers that be, it's super hard to squint for a straight hour every week because your episodes are so freakin' dark.

Surely there is some other setting that would brighten up the inside of Bran Stark's cave, or heighten the contrast between Cersei Lannister's robes and the shadowy chambers of her prison cell.
But no, that's just the way the show is supposed to look. A lot of these shows are also made by people who have experience working primarily on films, and film aesthetic has always been visually darker than TV.
Because films are meant to be watched on very large screens in very dark rooms, while most TV is watched on smaller screens in brightly lit rooms.
It seems the people making these shows aren't evaluating the lighting for the proper venue. It's not the first time Game of Thrones has come under fire for its shots being too dark, however.

Clegane verhöhnt sie und die Götter, muss aber ebenso wie alle Beteiligten ungläubig mit ansehen, wie Beric wieder aufersteht.
Er gewährt Clegane die Freiheit, da der Herr des Lichts sich für heute auf dessen Seite geschlagen hat. Dennoch verspricht er Arya, dass Cleganes Zeit kommen wird.
Als Arya vor der Bruderschaft flieht, wird sie von Clegane im Wald gefangen genommen. Sie verflucht ihn und möchte ihn sogar mit einem Stein erschlagen, als dieser zu schlafen scheint.
Doch Arya bringt es nicht fertig, obwohl Clegane keinerlei Anstalten macht sich zu wehren. Danach reiten sie weiter und als Clegane meint, sie hätte Glück, dass er sie gefunden hätte, sagt sie nur, dass es niemanden Schlimmeren als ihn gäbe.
Als er erwähnt, dass er Sansa vor einer Vergewaltigung gerettet hat, besänftigt dies Arya. Statt sie wieder in Königsmund auszuliefern, will er sie lieber zu den Zwillingen zu Robb und Catelyn bringen, da diese ihn reich dafür belohnen werden.
Unterwegs kann Arya ihn davon abhalten, einen armen Kutscher umzubringen. Kurz vor der Frey-Hochzeit reden Arya und der Bluthund über die Ängste des jeweils anderen und er provoziert sie, sodass sie ihm schwört, ihn eines Tages umzubringen.
Er bringt Arya in Sicherheit und rettet sie ein weiteres Mal, als sie Lannister-Soldaten ersticht und beinahe selbst von ihnen umgebracht wird.
