View All Critic Reviews Aug 15, Anthropoid is one of those rare thrillers that actually educates viewers.
A group of Czechoslovakian soldiers chose to follow orders, a rather commendable action that the film throughly explores. Disregarding their own fates, they chose to do what they believed was the right decision made by government officials in London.
They knew the power that Heydrich held in Czechoslovakia and was a valuable asset to the Nazi regime. The beauty of this film, is that I knew nothing about Operation Anthropoid.
Having watched this I've taken several pieces of information away therefore proving to be a successful representation of the story.
The cast were all pretty good, especially Jamie Dornan who conveyed that vulnerability really well. The principal photography for Anthropoid includes backdrops such as Prague Castle and the Charles Bridge in Prague, the locations where Operation Anthropoid took place.
At the premiere screening and later advance screenings, audience members noted that the authentic street scenes were featured in the film.
In July , the first image of Dornan and Murphy was released. S distribution rights to the film. Anthropoid had its world premiere at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival on 1 July as the opening night film.
With luck, Academy Award voters won't forget this one. At the Czech Lion Awards , Anthropoid received 12 nominations, out of 14 categories in which it was eligible all except best actress and best supporting actress.
